Welcome to your nanny search

Your registration is in and our search has started. This page covers what happens next, what we'll need from you, and how to get ready to be a great nanny employer.

Step by step

Most placements take 4 to 8 weeks from registration to first day. Here's where you are and what's ahead.

Registration

Done. Your $300 registration fee is credited toward your placement fee.

Search and screening

We source candidates who fit your family. Each is interviewed by our team and screened. We may reach out with follow-up questions.

Interviews

We present the candidates we think fit best, and you meet them. Add a working interview with your kids if you'd like one.

Final screening

Once you've chosen someone, we finish background and drug screening. This usually takes about a week.

Offer

We help you shape the offer. Your placement fee is due when the nanny accepts, before their first day.

Introduction

We send a formal introduction to you, your nanny, and our payroll partner, so day one starts organized.

Interviewing candidates

You'll know a lot about each candidate before you meet them. Use the interview to see how they'd fit your home day to day.

Worth asking about

  • How they'd handle a typical day with your kids
  • Discipline, screen time, and food approaches
  • How they like to communicate with parents
  • What they need from an employer to stay long-term

Be ready to share

  • The schedule and how much it might change
  • The pay range you have in mind
  • Duties beyond childcare, if any
  • Your house rules and parenting style

Being a household employer

We're a referral agency. Your nanny works for your family, not for us, which makes you their employer. It's simpler than it sounds with the right setup.

Payroll

A nanny payroll service handles paychecks, tax withholding, and filings for you. We'll introduce you to our payroll partner, HomeWork Solutions, or you can use a provider you prefer.

Pay and hours

You and your nanny agree on an hourly rate. Placement schedules need at least 4 hours per workday, so let us know early if you need split shifts.

Military families

If you're eligible for DoD childcare fee assistance, tell us early. Some of our nannies already qualify, and others are willing to complete the process.

Your work agreement

We provide a work agreement template so you and your nanny start on the same page. Make sure yours covers:

  • Schedule and guaranteed hours
  • Hourly rate, overtime, and pay day
  • Paid time off, holidays, and sick days
  • What happens when your family travels
  • Duties, including any household tasks
  • Driving, car use, and mileage
  • House rules and communication
  • How either side ends the arrangement
We're not attorneys, and the template isn't legal advice. If you have legal questions about your agreement, talk to an employment attorney.

The first week

A little preparation goes a long way. Families who plan the first few days tend to have smoother starts and longer placements.

  • Overlap for part of day one if you can
  • Walk through the house, car seats, and safety gear
  • Write down routines, allergies, and emergency contacts
  • Share school, daycare, and pediatrician details
  • Agree on how and when you'll check in
  • Set a short sit-down at the end of week one
